well, just killer! Finally having seen one in person, it was a no brainer. Even compared to the higher quality with the shinny coating deal on the 19' NxC I was contemplating, this monitor looked. This deliberation process ended when I saw what it actually looked like when I went to a big box store this week. I've been on the sidelines for sometime now, reading every review from this site, and others and even considered going with another higher quality 19' LCD "upgrade." All this was triggered from having seen what a favorite game looked like on a 22'. Pros: I actually tried to justify getting, 1) Cheaper upgrade, 2) Keeping my existing. Other resolutions look fine, but playing at the native resolution is like night and day in terms of sharpness.īottom Line: Its the best 22" LCD on the market. Don't buy this, or any 22" monitor, if your computer isn't powerful enough to play the games at its native resolution of 1680x1050. The 2ms response time may be a bit overrated, as the others had about the same amount of ghosting at 5ms (meaning very little). Of the three the Samsung has far and away the sharpest picture. I recently set them all up next to each other on my LAN and played some Unreal for a bit of comparison. One from Westinghous, one from Dell, and this one. You might need to play with the color settings a bit. I know its a minor gripe, but make sure you use the Samsung drivers. #Samsung syncmaster 226bw 22 inch monitor driversGreat for Gamers.Ĭons: Bad ghosting with the default drivers - fixed by installing Samsung's drivers. ![]() I tried them both on a Vista computer with a Gigabyte 7600 GT video card, and now have the A panel on an XP computer with a Radeon 9600XT. However, for whatever reason, the A panel seems to be brighter, though after adjusting the brightness controls (S at 60, A at 30) they both look the same. I'm not a graphics or color professional, but they both look fantastic to my eye. I have no problems with either with any kind of light bleeding through or any other weakness. One is an S that shipped from Memphis, the other an A that came from New Jersey. Overall Review: Perhaps I can help on the A panel vs S panel issue. I thought I wouldn't like the silver bezel and the glossy black finish, but they're conservative and very nice looking. A great value at half the price of a 24" LCD.Ĭons: I haven't found any. Compared to my 22" CRT and 19" Samsung LCD, this is way better. Pros: Large, font size is readable, very sharp and clear text, beautiful colors. You should see a great improvement upon completion. Scroll down to where it says "Installing the profile", and follow the simple directions. I can't put a direct link to the site that explains this process because it will be removed by Newegg, so simply type this in Gxxxle search engine without quotes. #Samsung syncmaster 226bw 22 inch monitor installIf you have an 'A' or 'C' you need to install a calibration file to set up your monitors colors correctly. To the right of (R) will be the letter 'A' (AOC), 'C' (CHIMEI), or ![]() Overall Review: Open the cover on the back of your monitor. Being that I have a 'C' panel, the monitor wasn't correctly calibrated. Great looking gloss black panel w/ silver bezel.Ĭons: Slight back light bleed at the top of the monitor. Sharp text, good viewing angle, nice stand base which swivels 360 degrees. Pros: Ordered monitor on Monday, received it on Wednesday. #Samsung syncmaster 226bw 22 inch monitor windowsMaximize your Windows Vista view with the impressive SAMSUNG 226BW display!
